Shamrockin', Beatrice, a collection of, 20 in 20, sister thing, teenagers, thank you.

1. People that say "thank you."

2. Teenagers. They are smarter, kinder, funnier than they are often given credit for.

3. Hanging out with my little (34 year-old) sister on a Tuesday night, drinking beer, seeing Henry Rollins. She reminds me of the rock n roll in my life... and laughing at the same things... and saying the same things at the same time in the same voice.

4. When generosity and art meet, you have Aesthetic Outburst's 20 in 20 project. My kind of gal.

5. To be visited more often... I just love the concept and the execution of this thoughtful project..."A Collection Of is an excavation of people, places, things, animals, and ideas, updated daily by Stefani Greenwood and Gilda Davidian."

6. So very excited to be signed up to take this papercutting workshop with admired artist, Beatrice Coron in July!

7. Shamrockin' shake. Mint chocolate chip ice cream, milk, peppermint schnapps all blended together. Oh yum.

Gunta Stolzl, the Muppets, dried beans, compassion, Belgium, Notan, Guinness (Daphne)

1. Daphne Guinness: because it is St. Patrick's Day and I immensely admire her style.

2. Japanese notan.

3. This peaceful, austere space in Belgium via Remodelista.

4. Animals can speak so eloquently about love, compassion, and tragedy in their quiet gestures. As evidenced in this video of these two dogs in Japan.

5. This handy chart to guide us in preparing dried beans.

6. The Muppets.

7. These beautiful textiles by Gunta Stolzl.

little artist, Lupien, animated sand, recipe, Wild Geese, Beatrice, beach ball baby

1. A favorite picture that makes me smile each time that I look at it. Beach ball baby with a rash-tache. I love him.

2. The art of Beatrice Coron.

3. Perhaps my favorite poem. Wild Geese by Mary Oliver.

4. We can always count on Heidi at 101cookbooks for inspiring our week’s menu. We’ll be making this Winter Vegetable and Tofu Korma.

5. Awesome student (Brenda!) shared with me this incredible video of an artist telling a story of war in Ukraine in the 1940's by animating sand. Kseniya Simonova won "Ukraine's Got Talent" in 2009. (I love the sound... including an instrumental version of "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica.)

6. My friend, Craig Lupien, has some of his work included in the Drawing Project at Carroll and Sons, Boston.

7. Happened upon this fun on-line gallery and noticed the work of a little friend, Hazel, 2, USA!

Bar baby, simple stew, fashion weeks, elephants, yet another soup recipe, people power, old sketchbooks

1. This past week, while I was off from work, I took some time to look through a bunch of my old sketchbooks. I have over 60 since 2000. There is some good stuff hidden away in those books on that shelf in our living room.

2. People power- Egypt, Libya, Tunis, Wisconsin. Inspiring.

3. Looking forward to making this bulghur and red lentil soup.

4. I have very much been enjoying Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.

5. Fashion weeks. Last week: Milan. This week: Paris

6. Made and ate: simple farro and bean stew.

7. "Baby trashes bar in Las Palmas" made me laugh over and over again. (Thank you, Hil, and Hil's mom, Alyn!)
